Mentors and colleagues – Something very special!

November 6, 2017, was a special day for me! I invited Prof. Paul Kucera (former professor of Physiology, University of Lausanne, Switzerland) and Prof. Jan Kucera (currently professor of Physiology, University of Bern, Switzerland), see the picture below.

Both have played (and continue to play) an important role in my academic life! Paul Kucera was my Ph.D. thesis supervisor (1995) – a great and broad physiologist with whom I learned to be very thorough in the analysis of any data and recordings! Jan Kucera is a current collaborator and friend; he is an outstanding physiologist with a unique expertise in generating computational models to address very difficult questions, such as the role of “ephaptic conduction” in cardiac tissues.

I am very grateful to both! My life as a scientist has been enriched tremendously being able to work with them!

And, yes, you may wonder, Paul is the father of Jan!
